A collection of six new dahlias bred for great form and weather tolerance. All varieties in the new dahlia Dreamy-series have dark green leaves, dark brown, often glossy buds and semi-full to single, medium sized flowers in lovely, warm colours. The 'Dreamy' varieties are robust and tolerant with a medium high, compact growth habit. They do equally well on hot summer days or rainy, windy days. Available are; 'Dreamy Fantasy', 'Dreamy Inspire', 'Dreamy Lips', 'Dreamy Nights',' Dreamy Kiss' and 'Dreamy Fusion'.
Dahlias are well-known and loved bedding plants, which like many older garden plants have come back into fashion with a trend to all things retro.
Dahlias prefer lots of daylight and perform best in full sun, but ever versatile, they thrive in partial shade, too. These will enjoy growing in large pots or containers or.simply as a colourful addition to the perennial garden.
The bonus of dahlias is you can over winter the tubers and divide for more plants the following year. The tubers should be stored over winter in a dry, cool, frost free spot. Simply dig up tubers before the first frosts or immediately after. Cut back any remaining plant stems. Wash or shake off any soil and then allow the tubers to dry. Wrap the dry tubers in newspaper or pack them in dry peat moss or untreated sawdust. Label each tuber or group of tubers so you know what they are when you go to plant them in spring. Store the tubers in a dark and cool place. Do not allow them to freeze. Replant in pots or the garden the following spring.
