Bizzie Lizzies are back!

Untitled Document

Last year, a downy mildew disease affecting mainstream garden impatiens (Impatiens walleriana) appeared in New Zealand. Nurseries temporarily ceased production of impatiens while many gardeners wondered why their usually bulletproof ‘bizzie lizzies’ were suddenly turning up their toes.

This spring plant breeders have come to the rescue with new strains of disease resistant impatiens. Grown in New Zealand under Zealandia’s GrowFlora® and other leading nursery brands, these plants are in garden centres now so gardeners all around the country can once again enjoy these shade loving summer staples without concern.

Note: This disease problem only affected the Impatiens walleriana type impatiens. Other forms such as the New Guinea hybrids and SunPatiens are not affected.
